Easter in Somerset

Easter in Somerset

With the start of the meteorological spring things are starting to come alive on the park and we are looking forward to longer days, better weather and the start of a/the new camping season.  The Easter Holidays are the first chance many of us have to get away in the Spring and we are taking bookings now for the glamping pod, touring and camping pitches and static caravans.  We have spacious, level grass pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes as well as fully serviced pitches.

Our friendly, rural campsite is ideally placed with good transport links via the M5 and A303 and is a great base to explore Somerset.  We have an onsite workshop for servicing and maintenance and an onsite shop where you can stock up on essentials and supplies whilst you are here.

There is plenty to see and do locally over the Easter Holidays from Easter Egg hunts to jousting – here are a few of our favourite events to check out.

The Bishops Palace in nearby Wells is a great place to visit at any time of year.  It has been the home of the Bishop of Bath & Wells for over 800 years and is a magnificent historic building, complete with moat and drawbridge!  Over Easter this year they have a range of activities from Easter Bonnet and basket making and mask making as well as medieval falconry displays – for information on dates and booking see the Bishops Palace website.

If Medieval is your thing, Glastonbury Abbey is holding a Medieval Fayre over the Easter weekend of 15th & 16th April, with hog roast, knights, jousting, live music and medieval cookery.  For a programme of events visit the Glastonbury Abbey website

The multi award winning Haynes International Motor Museum, in close-by Yeovil also has a great range of events over Easter for the whole family.  The spring bunny children’s museum trail runs from 1st to 17th April with an Easter Egg hunt between 14th and 17th April.  With indoor and outdoor children’s play areas, go karting and of course the amazing car collection it’s well worth a visit.  For more information on events visit their website

Hestercombe Gardens, Nr Taunton is a wonderful place to visit – especially in the Spring.  Set in 50 acres with the Victorian Shrubbery, the Georgian Landscape Garden and the Edwardian Formal Gardens they span three centuries of garden design.   There is a children’s play area as well as a café and contemporary art gallery.   They have a great programme of events all year round with an Easter trail between 1st and 17thApril.

If you fancy a trip to the coast whilst you are in Somerset, the Grand Pier at Weston Super Mare have a fantastic fireworks at sea event on 15th April with spectacular fireworks out to sea from around 8.15 pm.
