Cycling holidays in South Somerset

Somerset is a great county for cyclists and there are many routes designed to allow you to explore this unique part of rural England. Visitsouthsomerset.com have put together a guide for a great 80 mile cycle route around South Somerset which can be completed in 8 easy stages and offers the chance to explore the area at a leisurely pace.   Our campsite is good spot for the start of the route and as a base if you are planning to do the route in one go, or alternatively, stay with us for a few nights and take it easy over a few days.  None of the starting points are more than a short drive from our campsite.

The route is starts around the gently sloping landscape to the north east of Yeovil and offers a route which takes in the the beautiful lowland Somerset moors, charming villages like Montacute where you can see some lovely buildings built from the local ‘Hamstone’ and historic market towns like Somerton and Ilminster, taking in a bit of neighbouring Dorset along the way!  

The handy guide points out Local landmarks like the Ham Hill and Cadbury Castle as well as the best places to stop for a pint of local Somerset Cider and a ploughmans.    

Open all year, our peaceful, rural campsite is ideally placed for accessing South Somerset, with a choice of spacious touring pitches for caravans, motorhomes and tents as well as well equipped static caravans and our very own timber glamping pod, we have an accommodation type to suit.
