October Half Term for last chance camping!

October Half Term for last chance camping!

For many of us, October Half Term represents the last opportunity of the year for camping.  Somerset is a beautiful county to visit all year round, but the Autumn is a particularly lovely time of year here. So, if you fancy a last, late-season camp over half term, have a look at our suggestions for more things to do whilst you are here.

Nearby Haynes Motor Museum is holding a ‘Haunted Haynes’ week over half term, including a treasure trail and pumpkin carving for kids as well as all the usual visitor attractions. Children are admitted for free if in fancy dress so it is well worth a visit – see more details at the Haynes Motor Museum website.

If you have a taste for adventure and like getting out in the fresh air, go along to Ham Hill Country Park to track down a Yeti!  Suitable for ages 8 and up, join the Rangers and learn about animal tracks as you walk through the woods looking for the Yeti, booking is required – see the Visit South Somerset website for more information.

The National Trust gardens and Montacute House and Barrington Court are both within easy reach of Southfork.  For spooky Halloween trails, half terms crafts, den building, apple celebrations and puppet workshops for the kids, there is plenty to see and do.  Have a look at the events listings on the National Trust website for more information on locations in the area and what’s on where.

For more spooky goings-on, the 900-year-old Forde Abbey is offering some spine-tingling half term fun with a haunted trail, including some unexpected visitors.  You can also try your hand a pumpkin rolling!  It is a great time of year to visit the gardens at the abbey with its arboretum full of glorious autumn colours.

Our quiet, rural park is situated in the celebrated Somerset levels and the surrounding area enjoys beautiful autumn colours.  With a choice of large, level pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes as well as our luxury glamping pod and lovely static caravan holiday homes, we are sure to have something to suit.  Don’t forget, If you are running low on consumables after a busy summer season of touring, you can also stock up in our on-site shop, we hold a wide range of parts and accessories on site.  Our resident expert Mick is also on hand in our approved workshop for servicing enquiries or a wash and wax before winter.
