Official campsite for the Martock Retro Fundraising Calvalcade, Sunday 2nd July 2017

Official campsite for the Martock Retro Fundraising Calvalcade, Sunday 2nd July 2017

Back again for the fifth year running, the wonderful Retro Fundraising event is being held in Martock on 2nd July 2017.  As with previous years, Southfork Caravan and Camping Park is pleased to be the official camp site for the event.

With 300 vehicles expected to take part in the calvalcade around Martock in the morning (arriving at around 9.30 secures the best views) including Retro Fundraising veteran – Ruby the vintage Routemaster bus, it is sure to be an amazing sight.  Following the calvalcade, the vehicles will all be on show at the Martock Showground straight afterwards.  Go along and chat to the owners, browse the trade stalls and get yourselves some delicious food from one of the caterers, there is even a full carvery Sunday lunch available.

There will also be a traditional Somerset Cider bar and the unique mobile Wagonkered Bar serving a range of German beers, wine, spirits and even champagne.  There are also some great trade stalls at the event selling vintage, handcrafted and natural products.

Last year’s event raised over £7000 – this year they are hoping to do even better – for more information about the event see the Retro Fundraising website

If you fancy making a long weekend of it, there is always plenty going on around the area to keep you busy.    There is no better place than Somerset to try some traditional, regionally made cider.  The unique Somerset Cider Brandy Company is right on the door step of our site, we even sell their products in our on site shop.  You can book a guided tour of the orchards, brewery and distillery where they make the famed cider brandy, reviving a traditional method last seen in the UK in 1678.  Have a look at their website for more information and to book a tour  www.ciderbrandy.co.uk

Also well worth a visit and only a 15 minute drive from Southfork Caravan Park is the lovely World Horse Welfare Rescue Centre at Glenda Spooner Farm . You can go along and meet the horses and see the great work which is done by the organisation.  There is a café and play area on site as well.

As the official campsite for the fundraising event, we are already starting to get booked up so don’t delay in getting in touch to book your pitch for the event – our luxurious Glamping Pod and both static caravans are already booked but we still have spacious pitches available for tents, motorhomes and caravans.   Our peaceful, rural campsite is located close to Martock, Somerset – just a few minutes drive or around a 30 minute walk.  We can’t wait for this years Retro Fundraiser – hope to see you then!
