With October half term coming up, we have put together an event guide for family-friendly spooky, and not so spooky, Halloween fun in Somerset!

So, whether you are touring, camping, or have decided to stay in one of our luxurious caravan holiday homes, read on to find out what events are happening within reach of Southfork Caravan Park this half-term.

Allhallowtide at Barrington Court – National Trust (5.4 m)

Barrington, near Ilminster, Somerset, TA19 0NQ

Join the hunt for the mysterious lights known as the Hinky Punks, seven have escaped and are hiding around the grounds of Barrington Court. There are also storytelling sessions detailing local mysteries and legends. Booking is not needed and normal admission applies.

Mystery, Myth and Magic at Crewkerne Museum (7.5 m)

FAAMily Activities – History Tellers, Fleet Air Arm Museum (8.6 m)

Steam Fright Night, Westonzoyland Pumping Station Museum (17 m)

Do you dare venture around the historic buildings, dodge creepy cobwebs and scream at spooky monsters? Westonzoyland Pumping Station Museum has a range of after-dark family-friendly Halloween events including a ghost train, witch hunt, pumpkin carving, spooky tales and many more. Booking is required.

Family Craft Activity Workshops, Glastonbury Abbey (17.8 m)

Glastonbury Abbey has 3 fun, family-friendly, creative events coming up over the half term break. Choose from building a pipe cleaner spider (25 Oct), making an animal mask (27 Oct), or creating a stained-glass effect bookmark. All the materials needed are supplied in activity packs with a fee of £2.50.

Halloween at the Museum of Somerset (20 m)

29 – 31 October

Museum of Somerset , Taunton Castle, Castle Green, TA1 4AA

Discover the museum in the dark! This Halloween, the Museum of Somerset has opened its doors after dark for visitors. On arrival, children will be given a lantern to shine a light on the word clues which will unlock the magic treasure. Booking is required.

Halloween at Hestercombe (21 m)

23 – 31 October

Cheddon Fitzpaine, Hestercombe Gardens, Taunton, Somerset, TA2 8LG

During this October half-term there is plenty of spooky fun for all the family at Hestercombe. Learn all about bats with the ‘Barmy Bats’ trail and take part in one of their special events – Spooky Science, the Potion Room, Creepy Crawlies, Stories of the Untold. They also have some non-Halloween inspired events such as the Autumn Bulb Plantathon and Fungal Foray.
