Servicing for Caravans & Motorhomes

Regular servicing of your caravan or motorhome is an essential part of the ongoing maintenance of your vehicle.  The cost of servicing can seem high, but, it will pay dividends in the long term, with regularly serviced vans and motorhomes retaining their re-sale value, as well as costing less to maintain.

There are also safety and legal implications to consider when you own a caravan or motorhome – the law states that vehicles must be in a condition where it does not cause danger to anyone.  To ensure this safety, it is recommended that you service your vehicle at least annually

We have an on-site workshop for caravan and motorhome servicing at Southfork Caravan Park and Mick, our resident caravan expert, is on hand for servicing, repairs and any advice you might need on owning or running a van.  Our location in Somerset is ideal for a service stop-over when en-route to the Westcountry.  With easy access to the M5, A30 and A38, we are ideally placed.

We can only service units which are out of warranty. Our service includes a damp check with moisture content readings, a gas pressure test and full check of the 12 volt electrical system and leisure battery.

We can carry out repairs in our on-site workshop, including repairs to rectify damp. We also have a wash and wax service.

A Standard Caravan Service consists of checking :-

  • Chassis & Equipment
  • Suspension, Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
  • Road Vehicle Lighting
  • Gas System
  • Ventilation
  • 12 Volt Electrical System
  • Water System Filled
  • Damp Check
  • RCD 240 Volt
Following the service, we will go through the service sheet with you and discuss further our observations and any areas which require attention or action.  You can then decide what action you would like to take, and if necessary re book your caravan in for further work to be done. A service sheet will be issued on completion.
Of course, the annual service and maintenance visit is one thing, but, you should also ensure that you undertake routine maintenance on your vehicle throughout the year and always prior to travelling.

Don’t forget

You will still need to make a few extra checks and undertake a few small jobs when you venture out for your first trip.   We recommend that you:
  • Open all the windows to air things out.
  • Check the gas for leaks
  • Refill and sterilise the water system
  • Check wheel nut tightness
  • Check Battery Charge
  • Check the visual condition of gas pipes and water pipes
  • Check and grease the Coupling head
  • Check and adjust, if necessary, your tyre pressures
  • Check your handbrake
  • Check your road lamps are all operating correctly
  • Test your internal smoke and CO alarms.
A combination of regular servicing and routine maintenance will prolong the life of your vehicle and keep you and other road users safe.  Get in touch with us for more information or if you would like to book a service or maintenance slot.
