Even though, as we approach the Autumn half term and the clocks going back, we are getting towards the end of the usual camping season, Southfork Caravan Park will remain open over the winter as usual for touring and camping. It has been great to be back since we re-opened in July. It has been a busy time on the park with lots of old and new faces coming to visit and although the new restrictions have meant some changes, we have had a good, albeit short summer season. If you haven’t made it back to us yet, or you are thinking of visiting for the first time – it’s not too late! We are still taking bookings for Half Term week and beyond. Late seasons camping can be a really enjoyable experience if you are well prepared and plan ahead. If you are usually more of a fair-weather camper – have a look at our bog for some great tips for successful autumn or winter camping. Although things are still not quite back to normal – there are still loads of events and places to visit here in Somerset out of season - have a look at the Visit Somerset website for inspiration and events when you plan your next visit. If you are still to be convinced on the merits of a late camping or caravanning break, our static caravan holiday homes offer a warmer alternative - our bookings for 2021 are also now open online.
Our Ranch Café and Deli has been open since the end of July and we have been really pleased with the initial success of the venture so far. As well as our hot drinks, snacks and breakfast and lunch menus, we have also really enjoyed putting on special evening events over the last few months and plan to continue and expand this offering over time.
Some of the recent evening events we have hosted include a mid-week roast served with a choice of pork or chicken and all the usual accompaniments, followed by a delicious pudding, a pie and mash or sausage and mash night with a choice of homemade pies or sausages, including a vegetarian option (and more delicious puddings!). We are also hosting regular burger nights and steak nights. Next up on Friday 16th October is Grill Night starring BBQ ribs, sirloin steak, burgers (including veggie option) and BBQ chicken – we can’t wait (did we mention the puddings? ).
